WHEN WILL I BE LIVING ZEN?

10.5.04

When

every cabinet,

closet and drawer

is neatly cleaned

and organized,

will I have Realized?

then

will I be Living Zen?

When

all the cobwebs

in the corners

of the ceiling

are whisked away,

on that day,

then

will I be Living Zen?

When

all my windows

are squeaky clean

and all is clearly to be seen,

maybe then

will I be Living Zen?

When

nothing is hoarded away

for some other day,

following the Tao

and in the here-now,

then

will I be Living Zen?

When

the yard is raked

of every leaf,

and TV news

brings no grief,

then

will I be Living Zen?

Or could it be

much more easy?

Instead of waiting

for Then,

I could be

Living Zen

even if the pots

are greasy.

How about it,

I say.

Is Zen about Then?

Perhaps that day

is far away.

Never

has a definite ring

to this perfection thing.

When

will I be Living Zen?

When Life

As Is

passes

as perfection

then

I will be Living Zen.

When

Chaos can be see

as The Golden Mean,

now then

I will be Living Zen.

When

Crazy fits my day

today

I’ll simply say

well then

I’m Living Zen.

When

oops, nuts,

coo-coo, absurd,

seem to be

the perfect words,

so then

I’ll try Living Zen.

When

a bubble pops,

the power stops,

my heart clip-clops,

or the temperature drops,

then

that’s when

I’m Living Zen.

When

bills are due,

my friends are few,

the world’s a zoo,

too much to do,

now then

I could be Living Zen.

I’ll say today

it’s All OK.

Just let it be

a mystery.

Try not to judge

nor hold a grudge,

well then

I will be Living Zen.

When

things are grating,

try celebrating.

It all happens right,

just don’t fight

it today.

That’s what I’ll say.

When

I catch a cold,

am getting old,

the body aches,

for goodness sakes,

now then

I will be Living Zen.

When

everything has gone awry

and I have no idea why,

the phone keeps ringing,

the car starts pinging,

then

I could cry or sigh.

Or yet again,

I could start singing,

and then

I’d be Living Zen.

When

Calmly walking

through Chaos and Mess,

Consciously,

then I guess

I’ll be Living Zen.

When

someone says

go fly a kite,

you know something -

then I just might!

and

enjoying it

soar to new heights.

well then

that's Living Zen.
