THE QUANTUM EDGE: A NEW HERE-NOW

Was Einstein Wrong?

April 2003

I just read in the April 2003 issue of DISCOVER an article entitled, “Was

Einstein Wrong About The Speed Of Light?” A young man with a Ph.D. in physics,

Paul Davies of Sydney's Marquarie University, has a revolutionary new theory,

the VSL theory, which is short for “Varying Speed of Light”.

Some in his field think he has gone mad, and he has created alot of uproar over

this new theory. It seems to be very difficult for folks to accept that the

Speed of Light may no longer be ‘a constant’.

This set me to thinking about the Speed of Time. So I did an Internet search

and found some web sites that spoke of other Theoretical Physicists, otherwise

referred to as Mad Scientists. One web site created by Stan Monroe, a graduate

student at the University of Colorado, told me that the Flow of Time is an

Illusion, and although it is an illusion it, unlike Light, DOES move at a

Constant Speed!

Furthermore, this theory states that the Universe is Finite, with its boundary

being “Now”. ..and that “Now” is pushed ever forward through Time by the

Boundary of the Expanding Universe.

Another web site even had Art by Rycroft on the subject, which is displayed in this story.

The Ghassemi Institute For Technology Transfer has another theory called

Space-Time-Mass Unified Theory. This theory explains a universe in which everything is

all made up of 'each other' and are all from one nature.

Michelle Thaller wrote in The Christian Science Monitor in June 2002:

"What time is it?

That may change in the near future, as scientists are set to conduct a rigorous

examination of Einstein's theories (and any discrepancies therewith) up in the

International Space Station. The idea goes back to Einstein's prediction that

time is stretched and warped by the presence of a gravitational field.

Scientists are now looking for tiny errors in Einstein's predictions as to

exactly how fast or slow clocks will tick up in space, as opposed to down on the

ground."

Well, this was all 'science news’ to me.

I knew that many great Masters and Teachers have spoken until blue in the face,

about Staying In The Moment, Being Here-Now, that 'past' and 'future' do not

exist.

They also have mentioned The Oneness of Existence, The Interconnectedness of Life,

and The Nature of Mind Originating From Emptiness.

All of a sudden, from a Scientific Perspective, “Staying In The Moment” was

taking on on a whole new meaning.

I allowed my thoughts to drift and came up with a nifty solution of my own.

First of all, I wish to announce,

that since I have never known what time it is,

I will no longer aspire to “Remain in the Moment”...

I prefer to Remain, for now,

in the “Nano-Second”.

I have heard the Nano-Second is a measurement of time equaling one trillionth of a second.

Being In The Moment now seems TOO VAST a space...

so much happens within a moment...

with so many dimensions coexisting simultaneously,

The Moment is just TOO BIG.

And now, with the New Physics, computers, and so much technology, everyone

seems to feel even more stressed out, as if Time Is Collapsing In Upon Itself.

It seems to barely exist at all.

Hardly anyone I know Has Any.

In fact, we don’t even know what IT is.

“Time has no dimensions,” Stan Monroe continues, in his web site. Now THERE’S a

thought!

It all gets to be too confusing. So I have decided to DROP the whole idea of

Being In The Moment. From now on, my “moment” will be The Nano-Second. This nano- second is MUCH SMALLER than the moment. This shall be “my new here-now.”

There won’t be enough time, to not be in it.

So if you ever sense me “buzzing around” very quickly, moving faster than The

Speed Of Light (whatever that turns out to be),

just know that I “got it.”

That will mean I’m in the nano-second,

my new here-now...

which doesn’t actually exist,

yet, unlike Light,

is moving at a constant rate,

being pushed forward

by The Edge of The Ever-Expanding Universe, itself.

As for the Space-Time-Mass Unified Theory, I hope my new here-now is Not Contagious!

Summary & Simple Solution to Main Problems of Albert Einstein's Relativity Theory
From Representing Matter as Continuous Spherical Fields in Space-Time (Mathematical) to Matter as Spherical Waves in Continuous Space (Physical)

art by RYCROFT:

"These works are about a discovery. My paintings explore the concept of a relativistic quantum universe. They relate to our view of the universe with current research in astronomy and physics. The visible stars and galaxies ride the surface of a giant sphere. The sphere is expanding. The boundary of the sphere is the future."

Quantum Edge of Now

NOW

Our subjective experience about time is that there is only the moment now. The future is an idea more like a promise. The past is history and exists only as memories. Just as you would imagine about any boundary to the universe, the future is a dangerous place.

HERE

Quantum mechanics might be summed up by:

"When you go there, you're here."

It is as if the observer creates his own universe HERE and NOW. The rest is all probabilities.

Quantum Earth

Our view from space is that probably there is a point on the Earth closest to your position in space. Probably there is Earth near this point in every direction until the curve of the Earth allows you to see only half of the surface. It is consistent with quantum theory that you can only observe half of the Earth at a time. However. you cannot know where the rest of the planet is exactly, only probably. If you get too close to it there is a probability that you are actually getting in front of the moving part of the wave even though it may not be visible to you. Then the Earth begins to accelerate towards you!

A RELATIVISTIC UNIVERSE

Imagine for a moment that there is a centre of mass to the universe which we have not yet discovered. Imagine also that we are moving away from that centre at the speed of light (or as close to it as the laws of physics allow). We would all be moving together in our part of the universe so that everything would appear quite normal, but from the universal point of view we would be squashed flat by the Fitzgerald contraction because of our high velocity. We would be like electromagnetic foam rippling the surface of an expanding pond moving forward in time at the speed of light.

Time Fears the Pyramids

Life

If the universe is an eternal event, then, intelligent creatures like us may have been around forever. The most important goal for all living things is reproduction and survival. If our species survives to see our star complete its life cycle, where will we go?

"Everything fears time, but

Time fears the pyramids."
