HAMMER ON THE CROWN

11.14.04

(Dedicated to Venerable Kirti Tsenshab Rinpoche, The Sutra of Golden Light,

The Sanghata Sutra, The King of Prayers, and The Tantric Grounds and Paths, whose passing happened on December 16, 2007)

As It Is

has come to be

very close to me

counting her days

in many ways

IT came To Be

masters spoke

through that smoke

her very crown was broke

her crown has flickering lights

very bright

made of stars

M64: The Sleeping Beauty Galaxy

the bars

of songs softly sung

in her brain remain

among the points of stars

stuck in her head

hammer hammer hammer

the delicate crown

wound

upon her head

what was said?

twice told

this and that

there she sat

until her ears went numb

then IT would come

streaming through

on top of what

the masters do

IT sounded jazzy

crazy

dumb

It was some

amazing grace

showing what she had to face

and of all things

how to spread her angel wings

and try

to fly

to BE

oh me oh my

cosmic butterfly

M2-9: Wings of a Butterfly Nebula

the points of stars

stuck in her head

what was said?

tiny little tacks of light

hammer hammer hammer

IT permanently wound her head

masters said

we crucified your anti-attutudes

you CHOOSE

to be Here-Now

then you have success

her dress

was made of linen light

flowing in the night

with veils

so thin

caressed her skin

IT was such a sight

IT took awhile

to get used to IT

but once she did

masters bid

her come a little closer dear

can you hear?

twice told

stories bold

riding on ecstacy

sitting right next to me

GOOD!

Happy To See You!

Ha! Ha! Aha! Ha! Ho-Ho-Ha! Ha!

she stood

then three times bowed

the crowd

became IT

IT took awhile

to get used to IT

but once she did

bolts of lightning hit

her brain

with no pain

Truth she'd gain

again again again

each day

IT taught

brought

tears to her eyes

took her breath away

Hey

Ha! Ha! Aha! Ho-Ho-Ha! Ha!

Ho!

so

she was happy

Kirti Tsenshab Rinpoche's passing

Vula Zarpani sent this message on Dec 17:
After demonstrating the appearance of serious illness for many months, Kirti Tsenshab Rinpoche enter tuk.dam, the final meditation, early this morning at 2.30am, Saturday, December 16, in South Delhi, India. The day of the Tib 15th, which was Lama Tsong Khapa Day - one of the holiest days in the geluk calendar - special offerings and prayers were offered at the house and in the evening extensive light offerings were made.
During this period, Rinpoche revealed just how we should practice when death approaches, with the same skill he had perfectly demonstrated how we should practice in all circumstances in this life.
We can only rejoice at having the fortune to meet this perfect master, with limitless excellent qualities both seen and unseen, whose compassion and patience is immeasurable, and whose knowledge and wisdom are vast and clear like a crystal ocean.

And on Dec 2, we received this advice from Kirti Tsenshab Rinpoche:
Earlier this year, a student asked Kirti Tsenshab Rinpoche:
"Rinpoche, I have been thinking that most of my teachers are advanced in age and that inevitably they will pass away.  I hope that they will all choose to return among us.  But it will be a few years before they are recognized, trained and begin to teach again.  By then, chances are that I will be too old to receive teachings again.  Is there anything I can do about it?"
Kirti Tsenshab Rinpoche:  You should be more specific when you are praying.  It is not enough to simply say: "I wish to meet such and such a teacher again."  Rather, you should be praying along these lines: "I wish to meet this teacher again, as early as possible in life.  I wish to be among the guru's first disciples.  I wish to be present as soon as the guru begins teaching again and I wish that I will remain connected to the guru for a very long time.  I wish that the guru will teach for a very long time and that my mental capabilities will be active for an equally long time."
