"TIME TRAVELERS"
Time Travelers
9.29.05
Dedicated to my friend and fellow traveler, Shizuko.
(This poem is making reference to a conversation with my friend. Although I felt consistently late, she reminded me that my master Osho once jokingly told me I was 2000 years ahead of my time!
Also, reference is being made to my appreciating uniqueness in others, while having difficulty accepting my own unique qualities.)
Music playing is "River," by Enya
Lucky for you
she said
arriving 2000 years
ahead of time
12 hour delay today
still keeps you way ahead
of our time
I said
being consistently late
wait
no
still way ahead
I said
oh
no ahead
no behind
no one to be
no one to be not
no one to lose
no one to find
no cold
no hot
no now
no then
I had to face
no time
no space
no me
no them
appreciating someone different
is one stage
she said
appreciating yourself being different
is another
don’t you think?
she said
I thought I saw her wink
Then hopefully
we eventually
learn that we are One
but are different expressions
I blinked
still trying to get things done
I said
done???
I said
being consistently late
wait
no
still way ahead
I said
oh
no exceptions
One
different expressions
she said
oh wow
I said
I think
what she said
about being ahead
is the missing link
now I can't think
I need to dance instead
I said
so happy to see
I'll never catch up
with me!
no ahead
no behind
no one to be
no one to be not
no one to lose
no one to find
no now
no then
no cold
no hot
I had to face
no time
no space
no me
no them
one more thing
I heard her sing
Enjoy the perception
of being behind
I said
how kind
Lucky for you
she said
arriving 2000 years
ahead of time
12 hour delay today
still keeps you way ahead
of our time
