no more waiting

hesitating

no more how

no more now

only wow

pleased to say

hooray

to this new day

Hunk-A-Love-In

Oh Hunk-A-Love-In

Proposed to me

for all eternity

eternal wow

of Infinity

Hunk-A-Love-In

pushed the envelope

over the edge

all aglow

what a show

precious Rhaposdy

of Infinity

tiptoed inside

left it all outside

out there

we really didn't care

raspy voice

had no choice

had to clear it

chokes no more

mortals of flesh

a door

made of mesh

three times

we touched the floor

contentments galore

pretend no more

all aglow

what a show

humans in skin

the veil was so thin

felt like I'd never been

anywhere else before

precious Hunk-A-Love-In

Rhapsody

eternal wow

of Infinity

Yamantaka Initiation

'Yamantaka' is a sanskrit name, which can be broken down into two primary elements; 'Yama', which is the name of the god of death, and 'Antaka' which means 'terminator'.

The name of this deity describes the quality that he has. Yamantaka is named for his primary activity: the termination of death.

This quality is actually a quality of all Buddhas. How does Yamantaka terminate death? This question depends upon the meaning that we give to the term 'death' but one way in which we can identify with this ability is through the power of the enlightening activity of wisdom. This wisdom mind is able to perceive that death like all internal and external phenomena has no intrinsic, concrete existence. Our understanding of death as well as all internal and external phenomena emerges solely from the conventions of the world. Therefore, one way of identifying with Yamantaka is through the power of wisdom activity. We can see Yamantaka as a manifestation of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva-Buddha of Wisdom. In this context, Yamantaka represents the goal of our spiritual journey. Another way of understanding Yamantaka is as the journey, or the path to Buddhahood. It is through the practice of Yamantaka, the practice of terminating death, that we are able to awaken into the city of enlightenment.

The Yamantaka Tantras belong to the Highest Yoga Tantras. It has five specific attributes and is considered to be capable of giving results very quickly. High lamas like Tsong Khapa and Kedrup have devoted themselves to Yamantaka as their uncommon yidam. Such high lamas have said that the Yamantaka Tantras are a rare subject, appearing only to those with merit.

The five special attributes are:

1. Having Yamantaka as a yidam protects one from the obstacles arising from this degenerate age.

2. One is able to attain illusory body and clear light like in the father tantras.

3. One is able to attain bliss and emptiness like in the mother tantras.

4. One is able to achieve tummo, psychic heat.

5. One is protected by Manjushri as in the practice of Yamantaka, one has to rely on Manjushri in the causal stage.

Manjushri explained these five attributes to Tsong Khapa. We at Vajrapani Institute rejoice at being blessed by this initiation from Choden Rinpoche.
