Eyes of An Angel: Being Alone
10/3/10
She’d been alone the past 5 years
Some nights she collected and counted her tears
Placed them in a crystal bowl
Then sat and contemplated
Felt her life was complicated
Sometimes she would sit
A candle was lit
A single red rose on the table sat
Sometimes she wore a hat
Shadows flickered on the wall
No one wanted to call
Was her life a mess?
She had a new address
“It is a gift,” the wise ones said
But she waited and waited to go to bed
each night
Still had some fright
When she was frightened
they said she’d “get Enlightened”
With a Big E
She had to pee alot
“Oh well,” she thought
when she felt caught
inside her mind
“This is Hell
and nothing could be worse”
She opened her purse and counted her money
She had no “honey”
Pondering, her mind was wandering
Mostly she felt doubt
Trying to figure things out
Her beliefs were shattered
Nothing really mattered
any more
Sometimes a bell would ring
Sometimes she’d start to sing
She liked driving her car
and wished upon a star
Wondered what Life was all about
Who Am I?
Why Am I Here?
Don’t even want a beer
Into the crystal bowl dropped another tear
That night while she was napping
there was a knock on her door
A gentle rapping, tapping
She thought it was a dream
Woke up, poured silky cream
into her steaming teacup
“What’s up?” she heard
as the door slowly opened
She was amazed
then startled, she gazed
at a handsome tall man in a long white robe
He had rainbow glittered wisps of wings
On all his fingers were huge gemstone rings
His hair was snow white and moved like flames
His eyes were a violet hue
She didn’t know what to do
“What’s up, kiddo?” he repeated
She found herself seated on his lap
“An Angel,” she thought
as he caught
her hand and placed it in his own
He smelled like a vanilla ice cream cone
Looked deep into her eyes
Deep within his, galaxies spun
Smiling, he wanted to have some fun
She told him her fears
and he dried all her tears
with the hem of his glittering robe
He drew he near, whispered in her ear
“Here you go, Kiddo”
Had something up his sleeve
She could hardly believe
it was a special ring
made just for her
It was made of Light
took away her fright
A golden band
with a violet teardrop
In less than a minute
he placed it on her hand
Galaxies spun within it
He stayed and stayed
as music played
He pulled her up and they danced
He held her close
She was entranced
That’s all she could remember
The following day she understood
that it was good
to be alone
Someone called her on the phone
but she felt she wanted to be alone
She was as surprised as anyone
when she wrapped the tears in a golden box
Tied it tight with a silver ribbon
Slipped the red rosebud in the knot
The ribbon had pink polka dots
She felt it was fun
to be done
with it
She sent the box
to the one who had left her
5 long years ago
She let it go
"Why seek romance when I can dance?"
she thought
Nothing new was bought
Her special Angel taught
her everything she needed to know
